• The Bucks are one of the few NBA teams that regularly play zone defense. Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said it’s somewhat of necessity, considering all the Bucks’ injuries. They already have lost 96 player games to injury and illness.
Zone isn’t the most aggressive of defenses, but it helps on the nights Drew has been down to nine able-bodied players.• It was nice to see former NBA great – and now NASCAR entrepreneur – Brad Daugherty at the game. Daugherty is an incredibly good guy. He called me back within an hour from a race track when I wanted to talk to him about Dean Smith and was incredibly generous with his time and help.
• I guess it’s less than shocking that there wouldn’t be much of a crowd to watch Bobcats-Bucks the Monday before Christmas. But those here really got into it when the Bobcats were making up most of an 18-point deficit in the second quarter.
