The Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday recalled recalled defenseman Keegan Lowe from Charlotte of the American Hockey League while reassigning defenseman Danny Biega to Charlotte.
Lowe, 22, is in his second professional season and has 11 points and 106 penalty minutes in 55 games for the Checkers this season. Lowe has appeared in 118 career AHL games with Charlotte, earning 23 points and registering 192 penalty minutes.
Lowe was drafted by the Hurricanes in the third round, 73rd overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft and spent four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. He is the son of Kevin Lowe, a six-time Stanley Cup champion and the President of Hockey Operations for the Edmonton Oilers.
