Wallmark signs entry-level contract

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Thursday they have signed Swedish forward Lucas Wallmark to a three-year, entry-level contract.

On the NHL level, the deal will pay Wallmark $575,000 in 2015-16, $600,000 in 2016-17 and $650,000 in 2017-18. He will receive $65,000 per season on the American Hockey League level and received a signing bonus of $225,000.

Wallmark, 19, had five goals and 13 assists in 50 games with Lulea of the Swedish Hockey League in 2014-15. The Umea, Sweden, native led Lulea in playoff scoring with five assists during the team’s first-round series loss to Frolunda. Wallmark, a fourth-round pick by Carolina in the 2014 NHL Draft, represented Sweden at the 2015 World Junior Championship, tying for first among Swedish skaters in goals (4) and plus/minus (+3) in seven games.

“Lucas has good hockey sense and can contribute in all three zones in different situations,” Canes general manager Ron Francis said in a statement.
