Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin earned his first NHL point Monday with an assist against the New York Rangers.

On Tuesday, he was reassigned to the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

The Canes recalled defenseman Ryan Murphy, who had played two games with the Checkers after being medically cleared from a concussion. Murphy will rejoin the Canes for practice Wednesday.

Murphy, 22, had a goal and earned two assists in the two games with Charlotte. He suffered the concussion against Philadelphia on Nov. 14.

Slavin, 21, played six games during his first NHL stint. He made his NHL debut for the Hurricanes on Nov. 20 against Toronto.
