Canes recall Di Giuseppe

The Carolina Hurricanes on Monday recalled forward Phil Di Giuseppe from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Di Giuseppe, 22, scored a goal and earned an assist in the Checkers’ 4-1 home win against Manitoba on Sunday, giving him seven goals and nine assists in 22 AHL games this season.

Di Giuseppe made his NHL debut Dec. 5 against Montreal and has three goals and earned five assists in 14 NHL games. He suffered a concussion Jan. 2 against Nashville and was reassigned to Charlotte on Friday after being cleared to play.
