Carolina Hurricanes forward Brad Malone was not claimed on waivers Friday, remains on the team’s roster and is available to play against the Boston Bruins.

The Canes on Thursday placed the fourth-line winger on waivers. NHL teams had until noon Friday to claim him.

Malone may be needed in the lineup Friday against the Bruins at PNC Arena. Canes forwards Andrej Nestrasil and Jay McClement were injured Thursday in Carolina’s 3-1 road loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Neither Nestrasil nor McClement returned to the game. The Canes did not have a morning skate Friday and their status will not be updated until a few hours before the 7 p.m. game time.
