Canes recall Carrick from Checkers

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Friday the team has recalled defenseman Trevor Carrick from Charlotte of the American Hockey League.

Carrick, 21, was recalled by the Hurricanes on Tuesday and made his NHL debut that day against the Washington Capitals before being assigned to Charlotte on Thursday.

Carrick is in his second professional season and is tied for sixth among AHL defensemen in scoring with 37 points in 58 games.
