The Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday announced their roster for the 2016 Traverse City (Mich.) prospects tournament, which will be Sept. 16-20.
The roster includes three of the Canes’ first-round draft picks — defensemen Haydn Fleury (2014) and Jake Bean (2016) and forward Julien Gauthier (2016). Forward Janne Kuokkanen, a second-round pick this year, also will compete.
Alex Nedeljkovic will head up the Canes’ three goalies in the event. Also on the roster are goalies Callum Booth and Jeremy Helvig.
The team will be coached by Ulf Samuelsson, who has been named head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, the Canes’ American Hockey League affiliate.
The Canes open round-robin play in the tournament Sept. 16 at 4 p.m., against the New York Rangers. The Canes face Minnesota at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17, then Dallas on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. After round-round robin play, each team plays a final game Sept. 20 to determine final tournament rankings.
