Rissanen signed to one-year, two-way contract

The Canes announced Wednesday they have signed defenseman Rasmus Rissanen on a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him $575,000 at the NHL level, or $90,000 at the American Hockey League level for the 2014-15 season.

Rissanen, 23, completed his third full season with the Charlotte Checkers in 2013-14, scoring three goals and earning seven assists in 62 games. The Kuopio, Finland, native ranked third among Checkers skaters with 91 penalty minutes.

Rissanen was a restricted free agent.
