The Carolina Hurricanes' Kids ‘N Community Foundation announced Wednesday it has selected East Durham Children’s Initiative and The Hill Center as new recipients of GOAL Grants.
The East Durham Children’s Initiative’s GOAL Grant will fund scholarships for the addition of a half-day preschool to its early-childhood services for families in the EDCI Zone. At The Hill Center, the grant will help launch a partnership with the John Avery Boys and Girls Club that will provide intensive reading remediation to students identified by the club.
GOAL (Growing Opportunities and Leaders) Grants were introduced by the Kids ‘N Community Foundation in 2012. GOAL Grant recipients receive $50,000 each year for three years, totaling a $150,000 contribution.
The East Durham Children’s Initiative and The Hill Center join The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, InterAct and the YMCA of the Triangle as GOAL Grant recipients.
