DENVER -- The Canes on Friday placed goaltender Cam Ward and defenseman Brett Bellemore on injured reserve while activating defenseman Tim Gleason off injured reserve.

Gleason missed the first 10 games of the season after suffering a concussion in a preseason game. He will be playing his 600th career game Friday as the Canes face the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.

Ward left Thursday’s road game against the Minnesota Wild with a lower-body injury and will be out three to four weeks, the Canes announced. Bellemore also sustained a lower-body injury during the game in St. Paul, Minn.

Goaltender Mike Murphy was recalled Friday from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) on an emergency basis.
