Boychuk recalled from Checkers

The Canes on Friday recalled forward Zach Boychuk from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

Boychuk was to join the team in Detroit and play in Friday’s game against the Red Wings. He has four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 10 NHL games this season.

Boychuk, 24, is first in the AHL in goals (36) and second in points (72) in 66 games played for Charlotte. He also first in the AHL in power-play goals (18) and was named to the AHL’s Second All-Star team for the 2013-14 season
