The Canes weren’t lucky enough to win the NHL draft lottery Tuesday but are hoping to have good luck with the No. 7 pick again.

The lottery was held Tuesday and the Florida Panthers were the winner, taking the No. 1 pick. The Canes had a 4.7 percent chance of winning.

The Canes had the seventh pick in the 2010 draft, taking forward Jeff Skinner of the Kitchener Rangers (OHL). Skinner was the Calder Trophy winner in 2011.

The draft is set June 27-28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
