Kids 'N Community Foundation donates $582,000

The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation announced Friday it donated $582,000 in cash grants to 32 children’s charitable organizations in the Triangle and North Carolina during the 2013-2014 year.
GOAL (Growing Opportunities and Leaders) grants were begun by the foundation in 2012 and are distributed in $50,000 increments to six organizations. Triangle Family Services, Marbles Kids Museum, InterAct of Wake County, YMCA of the Triangle, Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina each received their incremental funding in 2013-14.
The foundation issued 15 Game Changer grants during their spring grant cycle, totaling $150,000. The Game Changer Grant recipients are: CORRAL Riding Academy, Genesis Home, HopeLine, Junior League of Raleigh and Museum of Life and Science at the $5,000 level; Comfort Zone Camp, Kramden Institute, Me Fine Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill and Urban Ministries of Wake County at the $10,000 level; Camp Kesem, Frankie Lemmon School, Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina, Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina and North Carolina Theatre at the $15,000 level.
Future Canes Grants, awarded to 11 youth hockey organizations, totaled $132,000.
The grant cycle brings the foundation and team’s donation totals to more than $12 million in cash and in-kind services since 1997.
