Recap: NY Islanders vs. Philadelphia

Brian Boucher stopped 28-of-29 shots and Scott Hartnell scored late in regulation, as Philadelphia edged the New York Islanders, 2-1, at Nassau Coliseum.

Mike Richards also tallied for the Flyers, who halted a three-game losing streak overall to end a five-game road swing and vanquished their Long Island foes for the 11th consecutive time.

"It wasn't the start we were looking for. We were a little sloppy at the start of the game but kept them to the one goal," Boucher said. "We scored a big goal in the second and the go-ahead goal in the third. It was a textbook road game."

Recap: Philadelphia vs. Ottawa

Brian Elliott made 23 saves for his first shutout of the season, as the Ottawa Senators downed the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-0, at Wachovia Center.

Nick Foligno and Jesse Winchester each had a goal for the Senators, who had dropped five of six coming into the game.

"Any win on the road is a big win," said Ottawa head coach Cory Clouston. "We've been struggling a little bit of late. I think the biggest difference tonight was Brian was real solid."

Recap: Philadelphia vs. Florida

Nathan Horton scored two goals as the Florida Panthers dropped the struggling Philadelphia Flyers, 4-1, at Wachovia Center.

Mike Frolik had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, who have won four of their last five. Stephen Weiss added a goal and three assists for Florida, which got 30 saves from Tomas Vokoun in the win.

Braydon Coburn had the lone goal for the fading Flyers, who have dropped four straight and six of seven.

Recap: Philadelphia vs. San Jose

Manny Malhotra scored two quick goals in the second period to help the San Jose Sharks close out a six-game road trip with a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Malhotra went his last 18 regular season games without scoring a goal before Sunday's win, which helped the Sharks finish their trip with a 4-2-0 record. San Jose also extended its unbeaten streak over the Flyers to 10 games.

"First and foremost, it's great to get that win," said Malhotra. "It kind of made our road trip; 4-2 against a lot of tough opponents, we'll take that. But it's always nice to score."

Recap: Boston vs. Philadelphia

Kimmo Timonen scored a pair of goals in the third period, as the Philadelphia Flyers rallied to beat the Boston Bruins, 3-1, in a preview of this season's Winter Classic.

Timonen also added an assist for the Flyers, who had lost seven of eight coming in. James van Riemsdyk had the other goal for Philadelphia, which got 26 saves from Brian Boucher.

"Definitely feels good to get this win. Everyone is pretty fired up about it. It took all 20 guys out there to really pull our weight," van Riemsdyk said.
