The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to complete a home-and- home sweep of an Atlantic Division rival tonight when they visit the woeful Philadelphia Flyers tonight at Wachovia Center.

The Flyers were beaten badly by the defending Stanley Cup champions in the Steel City on Tuesday as the Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first six minutes en route to a 6-1 blowout win.

For the Flyers it was the third loss in four outings and the 11th setback in 14 games. Philadelphia, which is tied for last in the Atlantic, also has just a 2-5-0 record since Peter Laviolette took over as head coach for the fired John Stevens.

Boston Bruins (4-4-0) at Philadelphia Flyers (3-2-1), 7 p.m.

The Philadelphia Flyers will try to get back on the right track tonight when they host the Boston Bruins for a battle at the Wachovia Center.

The Flyers began the season with a 3-0-0 mark, but since posting their last win over Washington on October 6 the team has played just three games and gone 0-2-1 in those outings.

Philadelphia last played on Friday when it was dealt a 4-2 road loss by the Florida Panthers. Radek Dvorak notched the game-winner as he posted one of two goals in the final period for the Panthers. The Flyers have been outscored, 5-1, in the third period during their three-game slide.

Pittsburgh Penguins (2-1-0) at Philadelphia Flyers (3-0-0), 7 p.m.

The Philadelphia Flyers will try to remain perfect on the season when they welcome the rival Pittsburgh Penguins for an Atlantic Division showdown at Wachovia Center.

Tonight's contest is a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, which Pittsburgh won in six games. The Penguins eventually claimed the franchise's third Stanley Cup title by downing Detroit in seven.

Pittsburgh also took four of six from its cross-state rivals in 2008-09 and the Pens have won 15 of their last 22 regular-season contests against the Flyers. The Penguins have also won in their last two trips to the City of Brotherly Love.

Recap: Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia

Mike Richards tallied twice as the Philadelphia Flyers halted a four-game losing streak by downing Tampa Bay, 5-2, at St. Pete Times Forum.

Blair Betts recorded his first career two-goal game while Simon Gagne added a goal and one assist for the Flyers, who kicked off a six-game road trip by winning for just the third time in 14 contests.

Michael Leighton, in his first start since November 30, picked up the win with a 31-save performance.

Carolina Hurricanes (2-6-3) at Philadelphia Flyers (5-4-1), 1 p.m.

The Carolina Hurricanes will try to end a lengthy slide this afternoon, when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers for a battle at Wachovia Center.

The Hurricanes have dropped seven straight games, giving the club its longest skid since another seven-game slide from January 25-February 11, 2003. Carolina's last eight-game losing streak came earlier that season, from January 8-22.

Carolina, which hasn't won since beating Florida by a 7-2 score on October 9, suffered its most recent setback Wednesday against visiting St. Louis. David Perron finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Blues to an easy 5-2 victory at RBC Center.
