Chicago Blackhawks (35-13-4) at Edmonton Oilers (16-28-6), 9:30 p.m.

The Edmonton Oilers blew a golden chance to halt their longest losing streak in nearly three years last time out. Now Edmonton carries a 10-game skid into tonight's meeting with the Western Conference's current second seed, the Chicago Blackhawks, at Rexall Place.

Edmonton's current streak is its longest since a 12-game slide from February 25-March 21, 2007 and is part of a span of 17 losses in its last 18 games. The Oilers have also lost the first two tests of a four-game homestand and blew a great opportunity last Friday versus a Dallas Stars club that had lost 10 straight on the road.

The Oilers' Sam Gagner tallied his second goal of the game with 1:02 left in regulation to even things up, but Dallas' James Neal scored with 22.2 seconds left to deal Edmonton a crushing 4-3 setback.

Blackhawks hand Oilers 11th straight loss, 4-2

Jonathan Toews, Troy Brouwer, Dustin Byfuglien and Marian Hossa scored and the Chicago Blackhawks extended the Edmonton Oilers' losing streak to 11 games with a 4-2 victory Tuesday night.

The Blackhawks have gone 4-2 through six games of a season-high eight-game road trip. Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith added two assists apiece for Chicago.

Fernando Pisani and Ryan Potulny scored for the Oilers, who are in the midst of their worst losing streak since a 12-game skid three years ago. The franchise record for consecutive losses is 14, set in 1993. The Oilers have won once in their last 19 and just one of their last 15 at home.

Jussi Jokinen recorded the lone score of the shootout, as Carolina blew a pair of three-goal leads but recovered to end its franchise-worst 14-game losing streak with a 5-4 decision over Minnesota at RBC Center. Jokinen opened the second round with a backhander under the crossbar, then Mikko Koivu for Minnesota and Matt Cullen from Carolina missed their chances. Marek Zidlicky got the last opportunity for the Wild, and Michael Leighton was equal to end the game. Ray Whitney notched a goal and two assists for the Hurricanes, who hadn't won since a 7-2 decision over Florida on October 9. Brandon Sutter and Joe Corvo added a goal and a helper apiece, while Jokinen also tallied in regulation. Leighton stopped 28 shots for his first win of the season. Robbie Earl posted his first two career scores for the Wild, who have dropped three in a row. John Scott also tallied his first NHL goal, Antti Miettinen lit the lamp and Niklas Backstrom took the loss after allowing four goals on 35 shots.

Chicago Blackhawks (14-5-2) at Vancouver Canucks (12-10-0), 10 p.m.

Henrik Sedin has spent most of his NHL career with Vancouver setting up twin Daniel for goals. However, should his brother return to the ice tonight, he may find the roles reversed.

Daniel Sedin could return to the lineup for the first time in 19 games tonight when the Canucks host the Chicago Blackhawks at GM Place.

Vancouver has been without Daniel Sedin since he suffered a broken foot versus Montreal on October 7. He has netted at least 29 goals in each of the last three seasons and has four assists without a goal in four games this year.

Edmonton Oilers (3-1-1) at Chicago Blackhawks (3-1-1), 8:30 p.m.

Chicago Blackhawks center Patrick Sharp has at least one point in all five games this season and will try to keep the streak going Wednesday night versus the Edmonton Oilers at the United Center.

Sharp registered the game-tying goal in the third period of Monday's 6-5 overtime victory versus the red-hot Calgary Flames, while Brent Seabrook scored 26 seconds into the extra period to lift Chicago to its second straight win and third in four tries.

After falling behind 5-0, Seabrook's overtime tally completed the largest comeback in team history. It also tied the largest comeback in NHL history.
