Offshore anglers are bringing in yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, wahoo and a few dolphin. They have been reeling them in on ballyhoos, live bait and spreader bars. Near the shore, king mackerel and albacore have been biting on live bait and plastic jigs, while inshore, red drum and flounder are biting on shrimp, live bait and bloodworms. In the sound, red drum and speckled trout continue to be captured using shrimp bait and bloodworms. Most of the action is taking place offshore with a variety of fish being reeled in. Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

The pier and surf bite has been well, with anglers reeling in bluefish, pompano, spot, red drum, sea mullet and black drum; all biting on bloodworms, and shrimp. Inshore, a few flounder, speckled trout and red drum have been spotted and reeled in on beer lures and live minnows. Bass are scattered in the waters. They are being caught in 2-12 feet of water, on rat-l-trap lures, jigs and spinner bait. The crappie have continued to flourish in the lake, in 12-15 feet of water, near brush piles biting on minnows. The white bass have moved to the mouths of the creeks, reeling in on small blade baits and small spoons and anything else that is shiny. Water level: 251.28, normal 251.5, full pool 264.8. In the mouth of the lake and also near the start of the creeks, catfish are lurking and being reeled in. While at the upper end of the lake, crappie are being captured with shrimp and bloodworms. Bass is slow, a few have been caught in shallow waters, but most have been in caught using deep crankbait. Recently striped bass have been a hit or miss out in the waters.
