Women who are interested in learning about firearms but aren’t quite ready to sign up for an intensive training class can get a free introduction to firearms on Jan. 23 at the Cabela’s store in Garner.
Responsible Gun Ownership for Women, which starts at 1 p.m., is part of a series of free courses the company is conducting nationwide to promote safety and responsible gun ownership, said Christa Wade, senior manager in Garner.
The first women’s class listened intently to one of the store’s female gun counter outfitters on Jan. 19.
“We had a very nice turnout,” Wade said. “… We expect Saturday’s turnout will have the conference room full. It might be standing room only if the weather holds.”
Never miss a local story.
The conference room holds about 30 people. If the turnout is indicative of interest, Wade said, additional classes will be added.
Attendees see a variety of gun types and styles and learn how to match them to personal preferences and intended use. Students learn tips for progressing to concealed carry training.
