Spring fishing is cranking up, even if winter wasn’t ready to give up.
A partly cloudy day with a high in the mid-60s is expected to greet teams Saturday when the Bigeyecrappieman Fishing Events tournament series opens a week late.
Last Saturday’s opener on Harris Lake was canceled because of the winter storm, so a makeup tournament will be fished this Saturday on Jordan Lake out Farrington Point, said area crappie expert Rod King of Ridgecrest Outdoors in Durham.
Check-in starts at 5:30 a.m. at the secondary ramp, and fishing is 7 a.m.-3 p.m. out of the main ramp. Weigh-in starts at 4. Entry costs $25.
Never miss a local story.
