Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet
Near the pier the bite was only skates, stingrays and spiny dogfish. Inside the trout bite had picked up a bit and the red drum were repopulating the shallow bays and marshes. Nearshore there were good catches of sea bass at the D-Wreck on the east side of the shoals, and offshore the wahoo and blackfin tuna bite remains strong. Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach
In shore, you’ll find red drum, black drum, and a few small flounder. In the surf, are sea mullets and bluefish. Near shore you’ll find bluefish and bonitos. Whiting are being caught in the surf and near the pier. In the back waters are black drum as well as trout. However there has not been anything off shore because of the weather and it being windy. It has been a bit slow, the weather has caused the water to become colder. However there are some bass still biting on wacky worm and spinnerbaits up to 10 feet deep. Crappie have slowed down, but you can catch those 5 feet to 15 feet deep on miniows. Catfish are biting on minnows and jig bait, and white bass are still hitting the blade baits near the bridge.
