The Atlantic Coast Conference is expected to bring in some of the best women's basketball recruiting classes in the country next fall.

Led by No. 2 Maryland and No. 3 Duke, the ACC has three of the top five, four of the top eight and six of the top 25 women's basketball recruiting classes, according to girlzhoops.com.

Tennessee has the top-ranked class in the country.

Maryland has five recruits, including 5-foot-11 Marah Strickland of Towson (Md.) Catholic and 6-2 Drey Mingo of Atlanta Marist. Both are rated five stars (the highest rating) by girlzhoops.com.

The other three Terps recruits have four stars.

Maryland gets the edge over Duke because of its class' depth.

The Blue Devils are bringing in a pair of five-star players, 5-9 guard Jasmine Thomas of Vienna (Va.) Oakton and 6-4 Krystal Thomas of Orlando (Fla.) First Academy.

They are joined by four-star 5-11 Karima Christmas of Houston (Texas) Dobie.

North Carolina, whose class is ranked No. 5, also is bringing in a pair of five-star players, 5-5 guard Cetera DeGraffenreid of Sylva Smoky Mountain and 5-8 Italee Lucas of Las Vegas (Nev.) Centennial. Rebecca Gray, a 5-10 forward at Georgetown (Ky.) Scott County is the third player in the class.

N.C. State's four-player class, which is ranked No. 22, includes 6-2 Gloria Brown of Philadelphia Neumann, 6-3 Tia Bell of Fairfax (Va.) Woodson, 6-3 Brittany Strachan of Winston-Salem Carver and 5-8 Emili Tasler of Apex.

SIGNINGS: Katie Jackson, a swimmer at Enloe, signed with the University of Toledo. She had All-America consideration times in the breastroke in 2005-06.

* Chapel Hill volleyball players Nicole Boyle and Lizzy Bruin are headed to Tulsa and East Carolina, respectively.
