The Carolina RailHawks (3-6-0) fell to the Atlanta Silverbacks (3-3-2) 2-0 on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. This was the Silverbacks’ first ever victory against the RailHawks in the Triangle.
In the first half, both teams got off to a sluggish start, as they fought for possession in the middle of the field, but neither team was able to create many dangerous opportunities.
Despite creating multiple opportunities at the beginning of the second half, the RailHawks were unable to break through Altlanta’s defense.
In the 63rd minute of play, Silverbacks midfielder Junior Sandoval ripped a tremendous shot from 30 yards out that left Akira Fitzerald with nothing to do.
The Silverbacks final goal of the match came in the 75th minute of play from another long-distance shot by Ryan Roushandel.
The RailHawks will travel to Canada to take on Ottawa Fury FC on Sept 7 at TD Place Stadium.
The match will be live on www.NASLLive.com. On Sept. 13, the RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park to take on the San Antonio Scorpions.
