Recap: Colorado vs. New England

The New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids battled to a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer action at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.

Kheli Dube and Conor Casey scored goals on each side of the half for their respective teams, as both MLS Cup playoff bubble teams earned a valuable point.

The visitors went up 1-0 in the 29th minute when Dube headed home a Kenny Mansally free kick for his eight goal of the season.

Dallas Stars (22-18-11) at Colorado Avalanche (29-15-6), 8 p.m.

The Colorado Avalanche will try for their longest winning streak in nearly two years when they welcome the Dallas Stars for a battle at Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche are in the midst of a season-high, five-game winning streak, but the club hasn't won six straight since February 26-March 8, 2008.

The last three victories have come on home ice, where Colorado is 14-6-2 this season. The Avs will complete the five-game homestand when they face Minnesota on Thursday.

Avalanche wins sixth straight

Craig Anderson refused to get caught up in his recent sensational play.

The goalie made 27 saves for his second shutout in three starts and fifth of the season, and T.J. Galiardi had a short-handed goal to help the Colorado Avalanche win its sixth straight, 4-0 over the Dallas Stars on Sunday night.

"It's something that at the end of the year, I can look back and say, 'Yeah, that was a good stretch,"' said Anderson, who has started and won all six games in the Avalanche's season-high winning streak. "But for me, it's just about staying focused and worrying about the next game and getting ready for that. Because you're only as good as your next game."

Modano scores twice in Stars victory

Mike Modano scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the third period, to lead the Dallas Stars past the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2 on Friday night.

The 39-year-old Modano, who has 555 career goals, picked up a loose puck and beat Colorado goalie Craig Anderson on a wrist shot with 12:59 left to help give the Stars their fifth consecutive victory at home.

Colorado, which had its six-game winning streak snapped Thursday night, lost its second in a row. Matt Duchene and T.J. Galiardi scored for the Avalanche.

New York Islanders (17-18-8) at Colorado Avalanche (24-13-6), 9 p.m.

The Colorado Avalanche will try to win for the fourth time in five games when they welcome the New York Islanders for an interconference clash at Pepsi Center.

The Avalanche have not posted a winning streak longer than two games since late October, but have recorded nine victories over their last 13 outings. Colorado comes into tonight trailing Calgary by one point for first place in the Northwest Division after the Flames picked up a victory on Tuesday night.

Colorado wrapped up a three-game road trip Saturday in Columbus and was able to record a close regulation win over the Blue Jackets. T.J. Galiardi scored with 58 seconds remaining in the third period to lead the Avs to a 3-2 decision at Nationwide Arena.
