To the dismay of many Tar Heel fans, North Carolina coach Roy Williams wore a Jayhawks sticker on his black shirt as he watched his former Kansas team beat Memphis in the national title game on Monday night.

But supporting Kansas wasn't the main reason he stayed in town, rather than return home with UNC.

"I'm staying here for the game, if you want to say it that way,'' he said Sunday night, "but the bottom line is that my son came from London and couldn't get out till Tuesday, so I wasn't going to leave him in San Antonio by himself. I will go to the game, though."

The Jayhawks beat UNC in the national semifinals on Saturday night. Williams coached Kansas for 15 seasons before returning to his alma mater in 2003, and has often said that school will always hold a special place in his heart.
