J.D. Dinwiddie, who was the head football coach at Wakefield High during the 2004 season, has returned as the Wolverines' head coach.

Dinwiddie succeeds Chip Williams, who resigned to become the head coach at Scotland High in Laurinburg. Williams coached only one season at the school.

Wakefield has had a different head football coach each season for the past six years, but has made the playoffs each year.
