Oregon Inlet
Offshore, there have been catches of white marlin, a few wahoo, dolphin, blackfin tuna and citation-sized yellowfin tuna. Nearshore, flounder, sea bass, albacore, bluefish, triggerfish, Spanish mackerel, puppy drum, speckled and grey trout are around. Buxton/Hatteras
Up and down the beach, it has been a good week so far, with a lot of bluefish, puppy drum, a few yearling drums and lots of spots and sea mullet. A few keeper flounder at Hatteras Inlet and along south beach. Offshore, wahoo and dolphin were landed. Nearshore, grey trout and bluefish caught. Ocracoke/Portsmouth
The remains of Hurricane Fred came ashore earlier this week and stirred up the surf, but a mixed bag of puppy drum, yearling drum, bluefish, sea mullet, a few flounder and Spanish have been caught. Cape Lookout/
Bogue Inlet
Surf fishing has picked up, with pompano, red drum and spots. Sea mullet have begun to show around the Cape Lookout rock jetty. Spanish, blues and pompano have been biting at Bogue Pier. Topsail Island

Wilmington/
Wrightsville Beach
Offshore, it has been tough to get out. Nearshore, lots of Spanish and false albacore caught casting jigs and trolling spoons. Inshore, flounder, speckled trout and red drum taking scented soft plastics and on live finger mullet. On the beach, some nice Virginia mullet and pompano showing up. Southport/Sunset Beach

Freshwater
Falls Lake
Schools of shad are starting to move up to the creek mouths, and bass anglers have had luck here, breaking up those schools when they spot them and chasing them up the creeks. Kerr Lake
Fishing has been tough. A few largemouth on top-waters early and late, but during the day, it has been a Carolina rig. Flathead and blue catfish biting shad and live bream. Jordan Lake

Shearon Harris Lake
The largemouth bass bite has gotten a little bit tougher, but fish will still go for plastic worms worked along deeper weed edges. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; www.wmi.org.
