LOUISVILLE RECEIVER OUT OF HOSPITAL: Louisville wide receiver Trent Guy was released from the hospital on Friday, less than a week after being shot in the back.
IN OTHER FOOTBALL NEWS: Starting cornerback Darrin Walls will not play for Notre Dame next season and wide receiver D.J. Hord has decided not to return for his senior season.
* Alabama football color analyst Ken Stabler has been granted a leave of absence for the upcoming season following his arrest on a drunken driving charge. Stabler's arrest in south Alabama in June was at least the third time he has been charged with DUI.
BASKETBALL: Memphis coach John Calipari says guard Doneal Mack will return to the Tigers for the 2008-09 season after all. Mack's father said last month his son would be transferring after two seasons with the Tigers because he wanted more playing time.
* Roger Hodge has been named an assistant coach for the East Carolina women's basketball team. Hodge served as coach at Atlantic Armstrong State in Savannah, Ga., for the past eight seasons.
SOFTBALL: Shona Guevara has been named an assistant coach at Meredith. Guevara was an assistant coach at Cabrini College (Pa.).
