Lakers' Walton has surgery

Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton underwent surgery Friday to remove bone spurs and scar tissue and clean up some cartilage debris from his right ankle.

The team said the operation took about and hour and was performed by Dr. David Thordarson at the University of Southern California.

Walton's rehabilitation is expected to take about six weeks and he's expected to make a full recovery by the start of training camp.

MORE NBA: Guard Deron Williams signed a contract extension with Utah on Friday that will keep him with the Jazz through at least the 2011-12 season.

* Marreese Speights, taken by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 16th overall pick in June's NBA Draft, signed with the team on Friday.
