SKID HITS THREE: The Bulls could not produce a clutch hit Monday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park as they lost their third straight game to Richmond. However, the Bulls' magic number for clinching the Central Division title was reduced to 12 with Norfolk's 2-0 loss in Toledo.

Fernando Perez hit a leadoff homer for Durham in the first, but Richmond answered with Corky Miller's RBI double. The Bulls regained the lead in the fourth when Elliot Johnson walked with the bases loaded to force in a run. But Richmond again tied the score in the fifth on Brent Lillibridge's double. The Braves won it with runs in the eighth and ninth.

Damian Moss (5-9) won with two innings of scoreless relief. Juan Salas (4-5) took the loss.

TRANSACTIONS: The Bulls made three transactions Monday: Left-handed pitcher David Price, who will start Wednesday, was promoted from Double-A Montgomery; outfielder Justin Ruggiano was recalled to Tampa Bay; and left-handed pitcher Heath Phillips was assigned to Class A Hudson Valley.
