College football teams host fan fests today

It's a bonanza for the football fan today, as the four major college football programs in the region host open days with a chance to mingle with players and coaches.

In the Triangle, it's even possible to make it to all three today.

Admission is free.

MEET THE BLUE DEVILS

WHEN: Approximately noon; 10 a.m. scrimmage also is open

WHERE: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham

WHAT: Autographs and pictures with Blue Devils players and coaches. Posters will be given away to those attending, and all fans will be able to enter drawings to win prizes.

MEET THE PACK

WHEN: 2 to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh. Enter at Gates 2, 3, 4, 8 or 9.

WHAT: Players and coaches will sign autographs, and the first 1,000 fans will receive an autograph book. Fans are asked to bring donations of school supplies for at-risk area students.

MEET THE PIRATES

WHEN: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Greenville

WHAT: Photo and autograph session with the team. Football posters and schedule cards will be given away and officially licensed ECU souvenirs will be available at special promotional pricing. Enter through Gate 7.

A dinner with the team will be held prior to the session, but advance reservations were required.

MEET THE HEELS

WHEN: 6:45 p.m.

WHERE: Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill.

WHAT: Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the Carolina Kid Zone -- featuring inflatable games and other activities -- will be located in the East end zone. Players will be introduced at 6:45 p.m. They and the coaches will sign autographs beginning at 7 p.m. Free parking is available in the Bowles lot and Craig Deck.
