Wake Technical Community College has hired its first three coaches for its fledgling athletics program.

Godfrey Miller, George Tsai, and Andrew Wilkinson have been hired to coach Wake Tech soccer, volleyball and golf, respectively, Eagles athletic director Barry Street announced.

Miller was a member of his native Liberia's national team when it qualified for the World Cup and Africa Cup (2004, 2005).

A graduate of St. Augustine's, Miller also served as an assistant men's soccer coach at N.C. State.

Tsai, who is from Taiwan, played varsity men's volleyball at East L.A. College. As volleyball coach at Green Hope High School from 1998 to 2007, Tsai led his team to seven consecutive state playoff appearances.

Wilkinson graduated from Northern Durham High and earned degrees from Wake Tech and Campbell University. He coached golf as well as middle school and high school baseball.

Wake Tech will open its women's volleyball season today at Davidson Community College. The first home game, against Pitt Community College, is Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at North Raleigh Christian Academy.

Men's soccer opens Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Eagles play Spartanburg Methodist, at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
