The Carolina Hurricanes' television package on FSN South for the 2008-09 season will have 65 games, including 35 of the team's 41 road games, the team announced Thursday.

The coverage will kick off Oct. 10 as the Canes host the Florida Panthers in the regular-season opener at the RBC Center. The next night, Carolina will visit the Tampa Bay Lightning for its first road game, followed by an Oct. 13 game at home against the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.

The Canes have a six-game road trip after the Detroit game, and five games will be televised by FSN South, including the Oct. 23 matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 2008 Eastern Conference champions.

Another televised game will be "Glen Wesley Night," a Feb. 17 matchup against the Boston Bruins at the RBC Center. The former Carolina defenseman will have his uniform -- No. 2 -- formally retired.

It was announced in January that FSN South and the Hurricanes had agreed on a multi-year agreement that made FSN South the exclusive local rights-holder. FSN South agreed to telecast a minimum of 65 regular-season games each season.
