Ben Behrendt kicked a game-winning 23-yard field goal with 42 seconds left, and Davidson overcame a 21-point deficit to beat Jacksonville 38-35 on Saturday.
Linebacker Tyler Lemons forced a Jacksonville fumble, and Brandon Sykes recovered for the Wildcats (2-1, 1-0 Pioneer Football League) at the Dolphins' 30-yard line. Behrendt followed with his game-winning field goal.
Jacksonville (2-3, 1-1) tried a Hail Mary at the end of the game, but Davidson's Brandon Gile knocked down the pass to seal victory for the host Wildcats.
Ryan Alexander passed for 230 yards and three touchdowns, while Chad Barnes had 97 yards rushing on 18 carries for Davidson. Myles Potter caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Lemons finished with 10 tackles and one sack.
Rudell Small led Jacksonville with 33 carries for 217 yards and three touchdowns, while Josh McGregor threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

ELON 23, SAMFORD 17: Andrew Wilcox kicked three field goals, including the only score in the final quarter with 4:59 remaining, to lift host Elon to victory against Samford.
Scott Riddle was 18-of-33 for two touchdowns and three interceptions for the Phoenix (4-1, 2-0 Southern Conference). Brandon Newsome also added 100 yards rushing on 18 carries.
Chris Evans had 23 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs (2-2, 0-1).
Wilcox put the Phoenix ahead 20-17 with a 35-yard field goal at the close of the third and then sealed the win with a 45-yard kick in the final quarter.
THE CITADEL 34, WESTERN CAROLINA 14: Bart Blanchard accounted for three touchdowns and Andre Roberts had 135 yards receiving and a score to lead The Citadel to a win over visiting Western Carolina.
Blanchard, who completed 19 of 28 passes, connected with Roberts for a 27-yard touchdown in the first quarter and the quarterback ran for a 15-yard score in the second to give the Bulldogs (3-1) a 21-0 lead.
Andy Horn, who threw for 115 yards, threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Adams Hearns in the third for the Catamounts (2-3). Hearns had seven catches for 40 yards.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 43, WINSTON-SALEM STATE 17: Malcolm Long threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns to lead visiting South Carolina State over Winston-Salem State.
Long completed 13 of 21 passes with no interceptions for the Bulldogs (3-2).
William Ford led South Carolina State with 116 yards rushing on 19 carries and a touchdown. Octavius Darby added 108 yards receiving and a touchdown on three catches.
Bryant Bayne caught 10 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown for the Rams (0-4), who were outgained 443-276 in the game.
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY 35, GUILFORD 14: Corey Sedlar threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns in Hampden-Sydney's win over visiting Guilford.
Guilford quarterback Josh Vogelbach set three NCAA Division III career passing records in the loss. He completed 40-of-59 passes for 383 yards, setting national standards for pass completions (1,037), pass attempts (1,721) and 300-yard passing games (24).
The Tigers (4-0, 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead to claim their ninth straight win over Guilford.
The Tigers' defense held Guilford scoreless on three second-half drives inside the Hampden-Sydney 20-yard line.
The Quakers (2-2, 0-2) twice turned the ball over on downs and once on an interception.
