The NCAA has found that St. Augustine's College allowed 29 student-athletes, including 15 football players, to practice or compete while ineligible, resulting in major violations and penalties.

Those penalties include three years of probation, the vacation of wins in which the athletes took part, a $2,500 fine and a reduction of scholarships in football, men's basketball, softball, volleyball, men's tennis and men's and women's track and field.

The NCAA said the case was resolved through the summary disposition process, meaning that there has been an agreement among the school, the NCAA enforcement staff and involved individuals regarding the facts.

The Division II Committee on Infractions adopted the findings upon which the enforcement staff and the school agreed, and the penalties recommended by St. Aug's, which also agreed to additional penalties imposed by the committee.

Some of the ineligible athletes got impermissible benefits such as scholarships and travel expenses. They were ineligible for a variety of reasons: participation in their 11th semester of full-time enrollment (no more than 10 allowed in Division II), participation in a fifth season, deficient grade-point averages and mistakes by the college staff in the certification of transfers.
