Wizards' Haywood needs surgery

Wizards center Brendan Haywood needs surgery for a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Washington was not saying how much of the regular season he was expected to miss. Haywood, hurt during training camp, visited two hand specialists in New York on Wednesday. His operation has not been scheduled.

All-Star forward Antawn Jamison has a bruised right knee and is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. An MRI exam Wednesday showed no other damage.

WEDNESDAY'S EXHIBITION RESULTS

MAGIC 118, BOBCATS 80: Dwight Howard scored 20 points to lead the Orlando Magic to an exhibition rout of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Rashard Lewis had 17 points to lead three other Magic players in double figures as Orlando spoiled the debut of new Bobcats coach Larry Brown.

Charlotte trailed by 31 points after only one quarter, and Orlando's lead grew to as much as 44 in the fourth quarter.

Gerald Wallace led Charlotte with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

RAPTORS 113, KNICKS 111: Chris Bosh had 20 points and seven rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors beat New York, spoiling Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's preseason debut with the team.

HORNETS 105, PACERS 71: Chris Paul scored 17 points, and the New Orleans Hornets beat the Pacers in Indiana's exhibition opener.
