Clemson scored twice in the first half and added a penalty kick in the second half for a 3-0 win over the visiting N.C. State women's soccer team on Thursday at Riggs Field.

Molly Johnson and Katie Vogel scored for the Tigers (5-5-1, 1-2-1 ACC) in a two-minute span midway through the first half.

Molly Franklin added a penalty kick in the 77th minute to make it 3-0.

Keeper Rachel Barnette had a busy night in net, making 10 saves for the Wolfpack (8-6, 0-4).

Lindsay Vera saved three of N.C. State's six shots.

CAMPBELL 3, USC UPSTATE 0: Sarah Hill and Emily Werner combined for 24 points on 21 kills, two aces and a block to lead host Campbell over USC Upstate 25-18, 25-14, 25-19.

BASKETBALL

FALCONS CHOSEN TO PRESEASON TEAM: St. Augustine's senior guard Will Gill and sophomore forward Hayward Fain have been chosen to the preseason All-CIAA men's basketball team.

The Falcons were picked to finish fourth in the CIAA's Western Division. Shaw was chosen fifth.

Sophomore forward Allison Sikes and sophomore guard/forward LeKiesha White were selected to the women's team.

The Falcons were chosen to finish third in the Western Division, while Shaw was picked second.

FOOTBALL

SMU RETIRING DANDY DON'S NO. 17: Don Meredith will return to SMU on Saturday to have his No. 17 jersey retired at halftime of the SMU-Houston game in Dallas.
