Johan Franzen scored two goals in the third period to rally the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the host Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.

Franzen tied it at 2 with a goal off a quick transition 11:16 into the third before scoring the winner with 1:17 remaining.

Valteri Filppula also scored for the Wings, who lost to Toronto in their home opener Thursday.

ALSO SATURDAY

ISLANDERS 5, BLUES 2: Mike Comrie, Trent Hunter, Sean Bergenheim and Andy Hilbert scored in the first 20 minutes of the home opener, and backup goalie Joey MacDonald made the early offense stand up with 24 saves as New York beat St. Louis.

CAPITALS 4, BLACKHAWKS 2: Alex Ovechkin scored twice, a sprawling Brooks Laich was credited with the go-ahead goal after a replay review, and host Washington came back to beat Chicago.

DEVILS 2, PENGUINS 1 (OT): Zach Parise's wrist shot from the left circle sailed past Marc-Andre Fleury's glove with 37.6 seconds left in overtime as visiting New Jersey, outshooting Pittsburgh by a 49-15 margin, rallied for a come-from-behind victory.

RANGERS 4, FLYERS 3: Nikolai Zherdev scored the first of four first-period goals, and visiting New York remained unbeaten and off to its best start in 25 years.

Zherdev scored his second goal in two nights 4:12 into the game, the Rangers (4-0) scored three more, and Flyers goalie Martin Biron was booed off the ice when he was pulled late in the period.

CANADIENS 6, MAPLE LEAFS 1: Montreal newcomer Alex Tanguay had a goal and three assists to help the Canadiens rout host Toronto for their first victory in their centennial season.

PREDATORS 3, STARS 1: Jason Arnott scored two power-play goals and had an assist against his former team, and J.P. Dumont added three assists as Nashville won its home opener and left Dallas winless.

PANTHERS 3, THRASHERS 2 (OT): David Booth scored his second goal of the game with 1:06 left in overtime for host Florida.

Stephen Weiss also scored for the Panthers, and Richard Zednik -- playing in his first regular- season game at BankAtlantic Center since his neck was slashed last February -- had two assists.

WILD 4, BRUINS 3: Eric Belanger scored twice, and the Wild welcomed former goalie Manny Fernandez back to Minnesota with a three-goal second period in the win over visiting Boston.

NOTE

PECA SUSPENDED: Columbus Blue Jackets center Michael Peca has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL pending a hearing this week for making contact with an on-ice official in Friday night's game at Dallas.

KINGS GIVE KOPITAR EXTENSION: Anze Kopitar has signed a seven-year extension with the Los Angeles Kings, putting the 21-year-old center under contract through the 2015-16 season.

MCCABE SIDELINED: Florida Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe is expected to miss two weeks because of a back injury sustained when he collided with Hurricanes defenseman Dennis Seidenberg in Friday night's 6-4 loss at Carolina.
