Rookies Kyle Turris and Mikkel Boedker scored for the first time in the NHL, and Ilya Bryzgalov made 34 saves against his former Anaheim Ducks teammates to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 4-2 victory and spoil the Ducks' home opener Sunday night.

Shane Doan added two goals for Phoenix, off to a 2-0 start this season.

Ryan Carter and George Parros scored for the Ducks (0-2).

Doan's second goal gave Phoenix a 3-2 lead with 3:40 remaining, and Parros capped the scoring just 13 seconds later.

The Coyotes built a 3-0 lead in the second period before Carter scored for Anaheim.

The Ducks' Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 20 shots but was victimized for two goals by shoddy defensive play.

Steven Reinprecht chipped in with two assists.

ALSO SUNDAY

OILERS 3, AVALANCHE 2: Dustin Penner scored his second goal of the game with 5.4 seconds left, and host Edmonton beat Colorado in its season-opener.

Penner, who also scored the Oilers' second goal earlier in the third period, tipped Ethan Moreau's shot past goalie Peter Budaj in the final seconds. Shawn Horcoff also scored for Edmonton.

Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk had goals for the Avalanche (0-2).

SHARKS 1, KINGS 0: Lukas Kaspar scored his first NHL goal, and Brian Boucher made 21 saves to lead visiting San Jose over Los Angles.

Kaspar whisked a wrist shot from the right circle past Kings goalie Jason LaBarbera midway through the second period to help the Sharks (3-0) sweep the teams' home-and-home series.

LATE SATURDAY

COYOTES 3, BLUE JACKETS 1: Olli Jokinen had a first-period goal and assist in his Phoenix debut, and Keith Yandle and Peter Mueller also scored as the Coyotes won their season opener over visiting Columbus.

Peter Mueller had the other goal for the Coyotes.

CANUCKS 5, FLAMES 4 (OT): Pavol Demitra scored with 1:06 left in overtime to give Vancouver the victory at Calgary.

After Michael Cammalleri was knocked off the puck deep in the Canucks' end, Vancouver broke out on a 3-on-1 rush led by Alex Burrows. Burrows waited patiently before sending the puck across the to Demitra at the edge of the crease, and he banged it in the open side for his first goal of the season.

SHARKS 3, KINGS 1: Tomas Plihal scored the short-handed go-ahead goal, Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski also scored, and Evgeni Nabokov had to make only 12 saves as host San Jose spoiled the coaching debut of Terry Murray with Los Angeles.

Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski also scored for the Sharks.
