FUNDRAISER TAKES TO THE ICE

Cam's Champs will kick off its annual fundraising campaign at noon Wednesday at the RBC Center, 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, when Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward appears with Special Olympics North Carolina athlete Matt Dumas. Dumas won the chance to face off on the ice against Ward after he and his family donated more than $250 to Cam's Champs. The effort, which runs through Feb. 27, helps the Special Olympics of North Carolina. For every save Ward makes this season, he will donate $4 to the group. Fans who join the effort can win an autographed jersey, airline tickets or a chance to meet Ward. To help out, visit www.sonc.net.
