Wolfpack fares well in rifle competition

The N.C. State rifle team took top honors at Southeastern Air Rifle Conference No. 1 this past Saturday in Charleston, S.C.

The Wolfpack scored a team total of 2,304 points in the air-rifle only competition, and the host team, The Citadel, came in second with a 2,257.

N.C. State senior Noel Keck of Milledgeville, Ga., tallied a 578, the highest score of the day.

The Pack is 6-1 (6-0 SEARC, 0-1 GARC) this season.

Pack junior Samantha Bullard of Sanford posted a 577, and junior Katie Siegert of Fairfax, Va., scored a 573. Freshman Rachel Jones of Raleigh had a strong second showing with a score of 576.

The Pack will host its next match of the season, the SEARC No. 2, facing off against members of the conference.

The Wolfpack opened its season with a second-place finish at The Citadel on Oct. 4, in Charleston, S.C. State scored a combined total of 4,481 (2,274 air rifle/2,207 smallbore). The U.S. Military Academy took first place with a team score of 4,598 (2,320 air rifle/2,278 smallbore).
