D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno is retiring from international soccer and will play his last game for Bolivia this week.

"The time has come for me to say 'goodbye' to the Bolivia national team after 17 years," the Moreno, 34, said in a statement released Monday by D.C. United. "It's time to step aside and let the new group of young Bolivian players take over."

Moreno's final appearance for his country will be Wednesday in an exhibition against El Salvador at RFK Stadium, where United plays its MLS home games.

IULIANO'S COCAINE BAN REDUCED: Former Italy defender Mark Iuliano had his ban for cocaine use reduced from two years to 22 months Monday by the Italian Olympic Committee.

Iuliano, who played for Ravenna last season, failed a test after a game with Cesena on June 1.

Iuliano appealed after the Olympic body, known as CONI, issued a two-year ban on Aug. 1. CONI reduced the ban because it ruled that he did not take the banned substance to improve his play.
