DaJuan Summers scored 18 points and No. 11 Georgetown won the first of many matchups between ranked Big East teams this season, beating No. 2 Connecticut 74-63 on Monday night at Hartford, Conn., for its seventh straight win.
Chris Wright and freshman Greg Monroe had 16 points each for Georgetown (10-1, 1-0 Big East).
A.J. Price had 16 points and Jeff Adrien added 15 for the Huskies (11-1, 0-1), who cut a 12-point deficit early in the second half to three twice.
The Hoyas opened with an 18-3 run, hitting four of their first five 3-point attempts, then held off Connecticut by making 18 straight free throws in the second half to finish 18-for-21 from the line.
This was the first time both teams were ranked when they met since the 1996 Big East Tournament title game when UConn, led by Ray Allen, beat Georgetown, led by Allen Iverson.

NO. 14 TENNESSEE 89, LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE 62: Wayne Chism scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds before a frightening injury forced him out of the host Volunteers' win over the Ragin' Cajuns (4-7).
With 5:12 left, the leading rebounder for Tennessee (9-2) landed on his back under the basket after blocking a shot by La'Ryan Gary. Play was delayed as Chism was strapped to a board, placed in a neck brace and taken away on a stretcher. The extent of his injury wasn't immediately known.
NO. 15 VILLANOVA 62, TEMPLE 45: Corey Fisher scored eight straight points in the decisive run and finished with 23 to rally the Wildcats (12-1) to their 23rd straight home win.
NO. 17 ARIZONA STATE 84, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE 47: James Harden scored 24 points and the Sun Devils (11-1) routed the Blue Devils (5-6).
NO. 19 BAYLOR 79, PORTLAND STATE 66: LaceDarius Dunn scored 22 points to lead the host Bears (11-1) over the Vikings (10-4). Dominic Waters led Portland State with 18 points.
NO. 23 MICHIGAN 77, N.C. CENTRAL 57: Manny Harris had 29 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, DeShawn Sims added 17 points and the Wolverines (10-2) equaled last season's win total by beating the Eagles at Ann Arbor, Mich. Michigan went 10-22 last season.
Nick Chasten scored 15 points and Bryan Ayala 13 for NCCU (0-15), which played its 13th road game. N.C. Central is in its second season in NCAA Division I.

CHICAGO STATE 98, CAMPBELL 89: David Holston had a season-high 40 points and the Cougars (7-6) defeated the Fighting Camels at Orlando, Fla. Holston, the nation's second-leading scorer, broke the 30-points mark for the seventh time this season. Campbell (3-7) was led by Jonathan Rodriguez with 22 points and six rebounds.

NO. 9 AUBURN 87, DUQUESNE 67: Alli Smalley scored 21 points and Whitney Boddie added 14 points and 13 assists to help the Tigers remain unbeaten by defeating the Dukes (9-4) at Coral Gables, Fla.
The Tigers (13-0) are off to their best start since 1988-89 when they won their first 29 games before losing to Tennessee.
NO. 10 LOUISVILLE 95, CENTRAL MICHIGAN 72: Keshia Hines had 18 points and freshman Becky Burke had 17 as the host Cardinals defeated the Chippewas. Shonda Long led the Chippewas with 18.
ACC WOMEN
NO. 14 MARYLAND 90, UNC-ASHEVILLE 57: Marah Strickland had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Lynetta Kizer added 18 points and the Terrapins (10-2) defeated the Bulldogs (3-8) the first round of the Terrapin Classic.
Kendall Shepard and Lindsey Thompson each scored 12 for UNCA, 1-23 against ACC teams.
AREA WOMEN
MARIST 62, EAST CAROLINA 58: The Pirates (8-4) saw their four-game winning streak ended by the Red Foxes (10-1) at Miami.
Senior Jasmine Young's 20 points led ECU, which plays host Florida International at 5 p.m. today the FIU Sun and Fun Classic consolation game.

SANTA CLARA RETIRES RAMBIS' COLLEGE JERSEY: Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Kurt Rambis had his Santa Clara No. 34 jersey retired during a ceremony at halftime of the Broncos' men's games against Belmont on Monday.
Rambis, the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,736 points, also played 14 seasons in the NBA from 1982 to 1995, helping to win four titles in nine years with the Lakers.
Rambis became the seventh Santa Clara player to have his jersey retired. Former NBA MVP Steve Nash is among that group.
