Panthers earn Big East road win

Blair leads the way against Georgetown

DeJuan Blair had 20 points and 17 rebounds, and No. 3 Pittsburgh never trailed in beating No. 11 Georgetown 70-54 on Saturday.

In a rematch of the last two Big East tournament championship games, the Panthers (14-0, 2-0) broke open a close contest with a 17-4 run midway through the second half. They dominated the Hoyas on the boards (46-21), in the paint (48-22) and with their depth (14-2 bench scoring).

DaJuan Summers scored 22 points to lead Georgetown, single-handedly keeping his team in the game in the first half. Monroe added 15 points for the Hoyas (10-2, 1-1).

NO. 2 CONNECTICUT 80, RUTGERS 49: Hasheem Thabeet led a balanced attack with 15 points and eight rebounds, and the host Huskies rebounded from their first loss this season.

Jerome Dyson added 14 points and Jeff Adrien had 13 for UConn (12-1, 1-1 Big East).

Rutgers fell to 9-6, 0-2.

NO. 4 OKLAHOMA 93, COPPIN STATE 62: Tony Crocker scored 20 points as the Sooners (13-1) raced out to leads of 20-6 and 34-13 over the visiting Eagles. Tywain McKee scored 20 points to lead Coppin State (2-11).

ST. JOHN'S 71, NO. 7 NOTRE DAME 65: D.J. Kennedy scored 20 points, including four free throws in the final 15 seconds, and had 10 rebounds as host Red Storm (10-4, 1-1 Big East) ended a three-game losing streak.

Luke Harangody had 28 points and 14 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (10-3, 1-1).

NO. 10 MICHIGAN STATE 77, NORTHWESTERN 66: Raymar Morgan scored 22 points and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds to lead the visiting Spartans (11-2, 2-0 Big Ten) to their 12th straight win over Northwestern (8-4, 0-2).

KANSAS 92, NO. 14 TENNESSEE 85: Sherron Collins had 26 points and nine assists, and Cole Aldrich had 22 points and 10 rebounds as Kansas (10-3) fed off the energy of a rowdy crowd to build an early 16-point lead, then held off the Vols (9-3) down the stretch for its 32nd straight win at Allen Fieldhouse.

NO. 21 MINNESOTA 68, NO. 24 OHIO STATE 59: Lawrence Westbrook led a typically balanced offense with 15 points, and the host Gophers (13-1, 1-1) bounced back from their loss to Michigan State.

Damian Johnson scored 12 points, and Minnesota held a 42-30 advantage on the boards over the Buckeyes (10-2, 1-1).

WOMEN'S TOP 10

NO. 1 CONNECTICUT 76, LSU 63: Renee Montgomery scored 21 points and top-ranked Connecticut beat visiting LSU.

Maya Moore added 17 points and 13 rebounds for UConn (13-0). Junior guard Allison Hightower led the Tigers (6-5) with 14 points.

NO. 3 TEXAS A&M 78, GEORGE WASHINGTON 59: Danielle Gant had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help the host Aggies match the longest winning streak in school history.

Erica Rivera led the Colonials (7-6) with 13 points.

NO. 4 TEXAS 82, LAMAR 45: Brittainey Raven scored 17 points for the host Longhorns (12-1).

Lamar's (8-4) Brittney Williams led the Cardinals with 14 points.

NO. 8 TENNESSEE 55, NO. 15 RUTGERS 51: Shekinna Stricklen scored 16 points and visiting Tennessee rallied from the biggest deficit in school history. The Vols (11-2) trailed 33-13 at the break, scoring the fewest points ever in a half.

The loss ended a 20-game home winning streak for the Scarlet Knights (8-3).

NO. 10 LOUISVILLE 78, DEPAUL 60: Angel McCoughtry scored 25 points to lead host Louisville (14-1) over DePaul (12-3) in both teams' Big East opener.
