Greg Paulus watch
For four quarters, Syracuse's Greg Paulus didn't look like a quarterback who had taken four years off.
But in overtime, Paulus, in his first college start with his new team, made a rookie mistake that led to the Orange's 23-20 loss to Minnesota. On Syracuse's only possession in overtime, Paulus forced a third-down throw into double coverage and was intercepted in the end zone by Minnesota's Nate Triplett.
The former Duke point guard finished with 164 yards on 19-of-31 passing with one interception and one touchdown. He hit receiver Mike Williams in the second quarter for a 29-yard score.

Paulus is short on time
Time is not on his side. Greg Paulus' football experiment is an exercise in the now, in the immediate. The one thing he doesn't have is time.
Yet his coach wants him to be more patient, try not to make impossible throws in an attempt to make plays. And his former coach and biggest booster says his real impact on Syracuse's football program may not come until next season, after he's gone.
At the halfway point of this one-year football coda to the former Duke point guard's college career, why does everyone want to talk about later? What about now?

Paulus picked off five times
B.J. Daniels dashed Syracuse's hopes just when the Orange had momentum, and the South Florida defense took care of Greg Paulus.
Daniels hit Carlton Mitchell with an 85-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half to break open a one-point game.
Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul returned an interception 18 yards for another score, and the Bulls remained unbeaten with a 34-20 victory over the mistake-prone Orange on Saturday in the Big East opener for both teams.

Greg Paulus is going to Syracuse
Greg Paulus' college career will continue at Syracuse.
The former Duke basketball player will give football a try for his hometown school, he announced Thursday morning.
An All-American quarterback in high school at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, N.Y., Paulus chose basketball over football. He started three years at point guard for the Blue Devils and coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Paulus a winner
Former Duke basketball point Greg Paulus led Syracuse to a 37-34 victory over visiting Northwestern on Saturday night.
Paulus, who has stepped in as the Orange's starting quarterback this season, scored on a 10-yard run and was 24-for-35 for 346 yards and two touchdowns with one interception for Syracuse (1-2), which started 0-3 the previous two seasons.
Ryan Lichtenstein kicked a 40-yard field goal on the final play to give Syracuse the win.
