St. Aug's wins eighth straight

Chris Jordan and Steven Brignol each scored 13 points as St. Augustine's defeated Livingstone 69-55 on Thursday in Raleigh for its eighth consecutive victory.

The Falcons (9-4 , 6-2 CIAA) have been dominant during the streak, winning each game by a double-digit margin. The last time the Falcons won eight straight was during the 2006-07 season.

Leading 25-24 at halftime, St. Aug's opened the period with a 25-6 run to take control of the game.

SHAW 81, LINCOLN 72: DayShawn Ford scored 19 points to lead the Bears to a victory at home.

Raheem Smith added 16 points and Travis Nelson contributed 14 points and nine rebounds for Shaw.

The Bears travel to Bowie State for a CIAA game on Saturday.

AREA WOMEN

ST. AUG'S 72, LIVINGSTONE 60: Allison Sikes had a huge night with 15 points and 19 rebounds as the Falcons defeated visiting Livingstone.

Keyona Bryant scored 16 points and Dierra Washington added 13 for St. Aug's (6-6, 3-4 CIAA).

Montiya Harrison led Livingstone (2-9, 1-4) with 14.

SHAW 70, LINCOLN 42: Tanish McGaughey poured in 27 points to lead the Bears to a decisive home victory.

Celanese Bozeman and Rebecca Hyppolite each added 11 points.

Shaw is at Bowie State on Saturday.

AVERETT 60, MEREDITH 49: Visiting Meredith dropped to 4-7 on the season with a road loss to Averett.

Megan Rahn led the way for the Avenging Angels with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.

Brittany Cornelius contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Ashley Washington led Averrett (6-3) with 21 points.

Meredith hosts Shenandoah on Saturday and Ferrum on Sunday.
