Brian McNamee's meeting with federal prosecutors investigating whether Roger Clemens lied to Congress has been delayed.
The pitcher's former personal trainer had been scheduled to meet Tuesday in Washington with prosecutors preparing the grand-jury case against the seven-time Cy Young Award winner, who denied under oath last year that he used illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
YANKEES SUBPOENAED: A New York Assembly committee investigating whether millions of dollars in public funding should be used to build the new Yankee Stadium has subpoenaed New York Yankees president Randy Levine and city Industrial Development Agency Chairman Seth Pinsky.
BRIEFLY: Free-agent reliever Guillermo Mota, 35, is returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers, pending a physical examination.
* Preston Gomez, 85, the first manager in San Diego Padres history, died Tuesday in Fullerton, Calif. He took over the expansion Padres in 1969.
* Right-hander Koji Uehara, 33, finalized a $10 million, two-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles, making him the franchise's first Japanese-born player.
* Career saves leader Trevor Hoffman, 41, and the Milwaukee Brewers announced a $6 million, one-year deal after the reliever passed a physical.
* Former major league catcher Todd Greene will become the Tampa Bay Rays' quality assurance coach, an instructional and self-scouting position.
Castroneves parked
Helio Castroneves is being replaced on Team Penske by Australian driver Will Power -- at least until the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner's tax evasion trail is resolved.
Castroneves, who has pleaded innocent to charges of conspiracy and tax evasion involving about $5.5 million in income stashed in offshore accounts, is scheduled to go to trial in Miami on March 2, just over a month before the IndyCar season begins.
YATES RACING TO RUN HALL OF FAME'S TEAM: Hall of Fame Racing became the latest NASCAR team to use a merger to stave off collapse, aligning with Yates Racing. Hall of Fame's No. 96 will switch to Ford and operate out of Yates' recently expanded facility. No driver was chosen. Doug Yates and Max Jones will remain co-owners of their cars. Hall of Fame's car will still be owned by Jeff Moorad.
Djokovic advances
Top-seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia, adjusting to a new racket, rebounded from a first-round loss at Brisbane last week with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over France's Paul-Henri Mathieu on Wednesday in the Sydney International tennis tournament at hot, steamy Sydney, Australia.
Also advancing to today's quarterfinals were No. 3 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, whom Djokovic beat in the Australian Open final last year, and No. 4 David Nalbandian of Argentina.
HEINEKEN OPEN: Qualifiers John Isner of Greensboro and Bobby Reynolds completed an American sweep of first-round matches at Auckland, New Zealand.
After fighting through three three-set qualifying matches to reach the main draw, Isner, 23, beat seventh-seeded Albert Montanes of Spain 7-6 (4), 7-5.
Reynolds battled for 2 hours, 42 minutes to beat fellow qualifier Oscar Hernandez of Spain 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-2.

FORMER BRAZIL STAR DIES: Friaca, who scored the goal for Brazil in a 2-1 loss to Uruguay in the 1950 World Cup final, died Monday in Itaperuna, Brazil, the country's soccer federation said. He was 84.
Woods' knee better
Tiger Woods said on his Web site that his surgically repaired left knee is holding up well as he continues his recovery from anterior cruciate ligament surgery. He has set no timetable for his return to the U.S. PGA Tour.
