WAKE FOREST -- Wake Forest-Rolesville was definitely ready for its annual battle for the Predator Trophy against arch-rival Wakefield.
Boy, were the Cougars ready.
Trea Jones led the charge with 164 yards on 21 carries and scored four touchdowns, all of them in the first half, as WF-R shocked the Wolverines with a 47-0 blowout Friday night at a jam-packed Heritage Stadium.
Dan Tomchik and Fabian Seabrooks connected six times for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while James Harris rushed 21 times for 133 yards and the Cougars' final touchdown.
"I don't think anybody expected us to win by that score," said WF-R coach Reggie Lucas, whose team finished with 513 yards total offense including 325 on the ground. "Our offense was as efficient as it had been all year."
WF-R, which is ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press state 4-A poll, has won the trophy each of the last three seasons and won the matchup four straight times.
The Cougars, who had beaten Wakefield only 17-7 last season, are 8-0, 3-0 in Cap-7 4-A action, while Wakefield is 6-3 and 3-1.
"We got outplayed in every facet of the game," Wakefield coach J.D. Dinwiddie said. "We just got our butts whipped. Jones had a great game. They were just good in everything they did."
The Cougars led 28-0 after scoring on all four of their first-half possessions, with Jones getting the touchdown each time.
At halftime, Jones had 94 rushing yards while Harris had 82 of the Cougars' 183 total rushing yards.
"I thought we came out with a lot of intensity," Jones said. "We knew it was going to be a big game. Winning one like this and being undefeated feels pretty good."
Wakefield couldn't get much going on its first possession, and the Cougars responded with a 14-play, 80-yard drive with Jones going in from eight yards out with Will Braddy nailing the kick.
The Wolverines drove to the WF-R 19 on their next possession, but Marcus Jones blocked Nicklas Sade's 36-yard field goal attempt.
WF-R responded by going 85 yards in 10 plays, with Trea Jones again recording the score from three yards out to make it 14-0 after the first quarter.
Trea Jones scored again midway through the period to finish a short four-play, 44-yard drive to help make it 21-0.
"I don't think our offense had been that good all year," Seabrooks said. "We had had some pretty close games lately, and I think that inspired us."
Trea Jones then got his final touchdown of the half from five yards to finish nine-play, 60-yard march. Braddy added the boot to make it 28-0 with 18.6 left in the half.
The Cougars' onslaught continued in the second half, as they went 87 yards in 13 plays with Tomchik finding Seabrooks from 24 yards out for the score with 5:48 left in the third. Braddy missed and it was 34-0.
And the passing combination worked again on the next drive, with Tomchik hitting Seabrooks down the left sideline to complete a four-play, 77-yard strike. This time Braddy was true, giving the Cougars a 41-0 advantage with 2:22 to go in the period.
Harris went around left end from 11 yards out with 8:47 to play, but Braddy missed again and the score remained 47-0.
WF-R will travel to Sanderson on Friday night, while Wakefield hosts Enloe.
