Inside the game

Duke collected 424 total yards in a 28-17 come-from-behind victory Saturday over Virginia. Led by Thaddeus Lewis, the Devils (5-3, 3-1) employ the top passing offense in the ACC, one that helped pull them from a tight spot in the fourth quarter. Yet, defense has quietly spurred Duke to three straight ACC wins.

On Saturday, the Devils gave up 1 total yard in the first quarter and held UVa to 196 yards for the game. Defensive back Leon Wright secured his fourth interception of the season in the first quarter. Tackle Vince Oghobaase made the 13th sack of his career. Linebacker Vincent Rey had 10 tackles. End Ayanga Okpokowuruk forced a fumble that noseguard Charlie Hatcher returned for a touchdown.

Game balls

PK Will Snyderwine: Career-high five field goals (44, 28, 34, 25, 43 yards). Has made 11 straight since missing first career kick this season.

WR Conner Vernon: Seven catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. His 38 receptions top Corey Thomas' freshman record of 37 set in 1994.

Looking ahead

The Devils on Saturday visit North Carolina (3:30 p.m., ESPNU), a team they have not defeated since 2003 and lost to last season 28-20.
