As you shop for holiday gifts or consider end-of-year tax-deductible donations, don't forget that many Triangle recreational sports organizations could use a little help in tight times.
"We can use any type of sports equipment," said Chris Winstead, the athletic director at The Salvation Army Community Center in Raleigh. "We offer soccer, flag football, basketball and T-ball leagues, so any equipment for those sports would be put to good use."
Cash, checks and even gas cards are useful, too, especially for organizations such as AAU teams that must rent gym or field space and travel to competitions. Donate your time or mechanical expertise, too.
To find an organization to assist, go to share.triangle.com/play and look in the gray box titled "More recreational links." To post your organizations' needs, go to the gray box and click "Play! Exchange."
